Yesterday it was reported that EA could not remove Adam Johnson from FIFA because of "technical issues". However, EA have today released a statement.
Child abuse support groups believe the company have a responsibility to act as millions of children play the game on a daily basis.
People have called for the player to be removed from FIFA 16, and a spokesman for EA has now revealed that Adam Johnson has now been removed.
"Adam Johnson has been removed from the Active Rosters of both Sunderland and England in FIFA 16. We're working to remove him from other modes within the game as soon as possible."
FIFA 16 sold more than 2.5 million copies in the UK last year, and is one of the most popular games across all platforms.
