Saul Canelo Alvarez is now the best paid sports star in the world but Floyd Mayweather wasn't too impressed. Now the Mexican has hit back and once again called the undefeated star out.
Floyd Mayweather isn't the kind of person to let someone else have the limelight for very long at all, especially when it's someone he's previously beaten in the ring, even more so when it's about money.
So when Saul Canelo Alvarez, whose only loss in boxing is against Mayweather, announced that he'd signed the highest paid contract in sport, signing a $365 million deal with DAZN for 11 fights, it didn't go unnoticed by Mayweather.

The 'retired' boxer posted on Instagram to show off that he makes that kind of money in just one fight:
Of course it was pretty unlikely that the shot about Canelo's failed drugs test, that delayed his rematch with Gennady Golovkin, and a claim about making more in one fight would be left unanswered.
Speaking in response to the 50-0 fighter, via Metro, Canelo said:

"[Mayweather is the] type of person who will post things on social media to try and offend people.
"If he wants to make the fight then he can deal directly with me, but I'm going to post things on Instagram offending people.
"It didn't surprise me. If it bugged him, that's his problem. I think it bugged him. In this life, everyone gets what they deserve.
"I don't know why it bugged him, but I defeated him in that aspect."
After a draw and win in his two fights with GGG the only defeat on Canelo's record remains the 2013 points loss to Mayweather.

With the undefeated former five weight world champion seemingly about to come out of retirement again there is talk that Canelo could look to face him in a rematch.
The 28 year old spoke about the prospect with Omnisport, saying, "Yeah, [Mayweather] should return, he should return. And if he wants one more fight, we're here to give him a real fight, a good fight.
"[It would be] for the fans. I know that it would be good to make this fight so that they can enjoy some great sport. And so he doesn't hurt the sport by making the fights that he wants to make. He should come back to me."

Alvarez's next fight is against Liverpool's Rocky Fielding on December 15th when he steps up in weight to fight for the WBA (regular) Super middleweight title.
If this doesn't end in a WWE style multiman match involving Canelo, Mayweather, Conor McGregor, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Paulie Malignaggi and Golovkin then what's really the point?
