Luke Littler publicly rejects invite to UK sporting event

Luke Littler turned down the massive occasion which takes place this month.

Luke Littler has publicly turned down an invitation to a huge UK sporting event, which takes place this month.

Littler returns to action tonight as he faces Michael van Gerwen in the quarter-finals of Premier League night 10 in Manchester.

He produced a sensational checkout against Nathan Aspinall last week to win his first Premier League night.

The Warrington native will look to make it back-to-back victories when he competes in front of a home crowd.

His appearance at this season's Premier League campaign comes after an incredible World Darts Championship, where he lost to Luke Humphries in the final.

En route to securing a spot in the final, the teenage sensation beat Raymond van Barneveld 4-1 in a masterful showing.

Responding to a post on social media after triumphing over the legendary Dutchman, the WWE issued an invitation to the darts star.

He was invited to WWE's show at the O2 Arena in London on April 19.

But, unfortunately for Littler, he had to decline the invite because of his involvement at a PDC event in Germany.

WWE tweeted: "Unbelievable run, @LuketheNuke180... We heard #WrestleMania 33 inspired your entrance music on @BBCR1, so you’re officially invited to @TheO2 on April 19 when WWE rolls through London. We might even hit @Pitbull’s 'Greenlight' for you!"

The 17-year-old replied: "Thanks for the invite but because i have qualified for @OfficialPDC @PDCEurope Euro Tour 4 that weekend in Germany. i won’t be able to make it Hopefully u can still hit Greenlight though."

Littler's 'Greenlight' walkout song was inspired from Wrestlemania 33, which he attended.

"Me and my dad went to Wrestlemania 33, seven years ago now, it was in Florida, Orlando," he revealed.

"It was my first time being there. It was a good song, I was singing my head off as a ten years old.

"I thought that if I did make it - I was playing football at the time a little bit - then that would be my walk-on.

"I will have it for the time being. I haven’t thought about changing it. Gezzy Price went from Ice Ice Baby to Katie Perry. That was weird."
