F1 fans praise Lewis Hamilton after spotting what he did following Lando Norris' first win at Miami GP

Norris won his maiden F1 race at the Miami Grand Prix.

Fans spotted what Lewis Hamilton did following Lando Norris' maiden F1 victory at Sunday's Miami Grand Prix.

The McLaren driver took the chequered flag ahead of Red Bull's Max Verstappen and Ferrari's Charles Leclerc to end a run of 15 podiums and 109 races without a win.

It wasn't the ideal start to the Grand Prix for the Brit, who qualified fifth before dropping behind team-mate Oscar Piastri at the first corner.

But Norris extended his opening stint while others pitted, and he found himself in the lead when the safety car was deployed following a crash between Logan Sargeant and Kevin Magnussen.

When the race restarted, he was still in the lead, and pulled away from the rest of the field in the closing laps to win by 7.6 seconds.

It was clearly a popular win among his F1 rivals, with Verstappen, George Russell and former team-mate Daniel Ricciardo among those seen to be congratulating him on Sky F1 footage.

After the Grand Prix, footage emerged online from a non-UK broadcaster showing how Hamilton reacted - and fans had plenty of praise for both Brits.

The Mercedes driver smiled as he spotted Norris before walking over to congratulate him, with the pair sharing a brief exchange of words.

Hamilton, of course, knows exactly what it's like to win a Grand Prix as a McLaren driver, scooping up 21 victories and one Drivers' Championship before joining Mercedes in 2013 - where he has won a further 82 Grands Prix and six world titles.

The Brit's second race win was at the 2007 United States Grand Prix, and he has won five times in the country since F1 returned there in 2012.

And fans loved the moment.

Taking to Twitter, one claimed: "The greatest tribute from the greatest driver in F1 history."

A second stated: "Class is permanent."

A third added: "Lewis is such a good person man that's all I'll say."

And a fourth wrote: "Lewis is a hype man to all these drivers. Generous in his support and celebrating them but the energy isn't always reciprocated."

Speaking after his maiden victory, meanwhile, Norris told Sky Sports F1's Jenson Button: "I'm just happy, proud. It feels like a long time coming.

"It all just came together. We were quick all day. I had a good strategy, a good plan, I stayed out of the way of trouble in Turn One because it was very close.

"I just focused on our race, and we were quick. Of course, we got a bit lucky with the Safety Car. But even after, the pace was the best on track by quite a long way."
