Borussia Dortmund are throwing away the Bundesliga title in front of our very eyes

As things stand, Bayern Munich will lift their 11th consecutive Bundesliga title this weekend after Borussia Dortmund fumbled in agonising fashion.

Coming into Saturday's final game of the 2022/23 season, league leaders Dortmund were in the driving seat ahead of their home clash against Mainz.

Edin Terzic's side managed to forge a two-point gap over Bayern and many were confident they could secure all three points against their opponents, who are currently ninth in the Bundesliga standings.

But the away side would surprise everyone when they took the lead after just 15 minutes.

As you can see from the footage above, Norwegian defender Andreas Hanche-Olsen converted past goalkeeper Gregor Kobel with a sweeping header to make it 1-0.

Dortmund soon had the chance to equalise, when Raphaël Guerreiro was fouled in the area but Sebastien Haller, who has scored five goals in his last three games, failed to convert from 12 yards.

Then, in dramatic fashion, the Westfalenstadion fell silent when Dortmund conceded a second.

Kobel, who could have arguably saved Olsen's opener, failed to palm away a relatively tame header from Austria international Karim Onisiwo in the 24th minute.

With 45 minutes remaining in both games, Dortmund will need to pull off one of the greatest comebacks in Bundesliga history as Bayern lead 1-0 against FC Cologne.

Here's how social media reacted to the scenes in Germany.

One fan said: "Dortmund are unlocking bottling levels that nobody thought existed, these people make Spurs look like they have Real Madrid DNA," while another commented: "I assume being a Dortmund fan is like watching the Gerrard slip on repeat over and over again for a decade."

A third wrote: "Guarantee if this was a game week 16 fixture with Bayern 10 points clear, Dortmund would be leading this game by at least 4 goals by now. How do they collapse so consistently when it matters. I don't understand it."

A fourth added: The last time Dortmund came back from being 0-2 down at half time was in 1982."
