Jordan Henderson made an incredible gesture to local families in Liverpool by throwing three parties at the club for underprivileged and disabled kids and making their Christmases.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson proved that wearing the armband on a matchday is far from the only way to represent the club.

The midfielder might not have had the best time on the pitch this season but he put all football to one side on Sunday when he threw three Christmas parties for local Liverpool families, paying for them himself.

Club employee Ellie Phillips took to social media to reveal the story of how Henderson had thrown the parties for disabled and underprivileged children, and even got Adam Lallana along too to party with him and them.

Taking to Facebook, Phillips posted, "So today I worked a Christmas party organised by Henderson which he paid the lounge hire (over £2000 in the Kenny Dalglish stand) invited 3 lots of people and communities with underprivileged or disabled kids, filling a room each time.

"He paid for all of the food, entertainment and brought Lallana along with him to meet everyone and sign their programs/take photos.

"Then to top it all off he had bought each of the kids a decent present for Christmas (including iPads for older kids).

"They're both honestly the most humble, down to earth, generous people & made a lot of kids Christmas's today. Our captain is boss x."

It's a truly awesome gesture by both player but especially Henderson. Football clubs are a real part of the community and as captain Henderson has made sure the link between club and city remains strong.

That's why the England international is club captain.
