Ajax star Dusan Tadic 'injured in violent armed robbery' in Amsterdam

The former Southampton forward was assaulted near his home in the south of the city.

Ajax captain Dusan Tadic has been injured in a violent armed robbery near his home in Amsterdam, according to reports in the Netherlands.

Dutch outlet De Telegraaf claim Tadic was approached by two armed men with helmets on near his home in Van Eeghenstraat, in the south of the city.

The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Thursday, July 28.

It is claimed that the two men approached Tadic when he got out of his car near his home.

The former Southampton player attempted to flee once he realised that something was wrong but was caught after a short chase.

A scuffle ensued with the two assailants, who were possibly looking to rob Tadic's watch that he was wearing at the time, the report claims.

Tadic managed to open the visor on the helmet of one of the men and slap him.

The scuffle is said to have left the Serbia international "slightly injured".

Last month, it was reported that another Ajax player, Mohamed Ihattaren, was being "threatened and intimidated".

The 20-year-old, who is on loan at the Dutch club from Juventus, was left out of their squad for a pre-season training camp in Austria.

Ajax claimed it was because of fitness issues but De Telegraaf later reported that it was because he was being "threatened".

The nature of the threats were not disclosed in the report.

Tadic, meanwhile, captained Ajax on Saturday as they beat Fortuna Sittard 3-2 in their opening match of the new Eredivisie season.

The Dutch champions next face Groningen on Sunday.
