Hugo Lloris has a known reputation for playing the sweeper 'keeper role quite well. But over his career in both Ligue 1 and the Premier League, the Tottenham Hotspur player has faced off against some of the world's best.

Who is the World Cup winner's toughest test? Well, the Frenchman has decided to reveal that player.

Oh, and it's not Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo.

Press Association

"It's hard to pick one," he told RMC Sport (via Sport Witness).

"A player like Raúl, I played him when he was at Real Madrid and Schalke, he always had that quick glance on the goalkeeper, on where he was positioned and he shot depending on that.

"After that, there's the Suarez's, the Messi's, I don't need to present them.

"Back in the day, there was also Pauleta at Paris Saint-Germain. I played him a lot when I was at Nice."

Press Association

Well, there you have it.

If it weren't one legend from Real Madrid, then it would have to be the other.

Raúl played for Real Madrid from 1994 to 2010, making 550 appearances for Los Blancos and scoring 228 times.

Of course, the Spaniard used to be the all-time top scorer for Madrid, but Ronaldo has since eclipsed that record.

Press Association

Lloris enjoyed a successful World Cup with France in the summer and had a strong start to the season with Spurs.

However, he has been absent from the French team during the international break, missing out on the team's UEFA Nations League clash against Germany and the Netherlands.

In fact, Spurs' number one is unsure when he will be returning to the club from his thigh injury.

Press Association

"Do I have a return date? Not yet," he told RMC (via the Metro).

"We're working hard to come back strong and as quickly as possible.

"There's perhaps a chance for this weekend, but we'll see depending on how things go this week."

What are your thoughts on Lloris' choice?
