Real Madrid Apparently Made A Loss On Ronaldo’s Transfer To Juventus

Real Madrid Apparently Made A Loss On Ronaldo’s Transfer To Juventus

It looks like Real Madrid could have pocketed a bit more cash on Cristiano Ronaldo’s transfer to Juventus

It might have only happened this summer, but Cristiano Ronaldo's move to Juventus is still a big talking point. In fact, it seems like the Old Lady actually did better off with the transfer value than Real Madrid would have believed.

Sure, Los Blancos made a return on the £80m they paid to Manchester United for the five-time Ballon d'Or winner in 2008, but it looks like the club have undersold him.

According to CIES Football Observatory (via the Daily Mirror), they broke down the Portuguese forward's value to factor in his age, reputation, nationality, club and form.

Despite being 33 years old, Ronaldo should be worth €116.5m and Juventus bought him for €105m.

It might be a difference of €11.5m, but considering we're talking about Ronaldo here, Madrid missed the opportunity to put their foot down and demand more money.

To be fair, Sir Alex Ferguson previously spoke about his disappointment of letting the former Manchester United player leave the club for £80m.

"I told David Gill to ask for £150 million," he said in 2014 (via the Daily Telegraph). "[Florentino] Pérez would have paid.

"The only thing that hurt me, and I said this repeatedly to David Gill, was that we didn't demand enough.

"I told David, 'Ask for £150m.' 'Don't be silly,' he said. 'They'll never pay that.'"

Ronaldo is taking his time to settle into Serie A, with the club backing him to find his shooting boots soon.

The all-time record Champions League scorer has failed to find the back of the net in Juventus' opening matches in the league, despite the reigning Serie A champions winning on each occasion.
