Arturo Vidal might be close to becoming a Barcelona player now, but he so could have nearly have become a Manchester City or Manchester United player, according to reports.

The Chile international has been good enough form to find himself with a place in the Barcelona set up for next season.

But it could have been so much different: we could have seen the midfielder plying his trade in the Premier League with either Manchester clubs.

While Man City appear to be fine in the midfield department, Man United is a different story. Though they have bought in a few signings, there is an issue of the relationship between manager Jose Mourinho and the supporters.

Vidal is a no nonsense player and he would have been a superb signing for the Red Devils. His dressing room presence might well have been able to sort things out at Old Trafford, while his talent could have offered them some stability in the centre of the park.

Supporters have had their say:

Over at the Etihad, Pep Guardiola has got enough talent in his ranks and any additional purchases would just be for the substitute bench at this point. But with İlkay Gündoğan reportedly nearing an exit, there could have been some room for Vidal.

Do you think Vidal would have worked well at the Manchester clubs? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
