Arsenal fans want teenage sensation Chido Obi-Martin to be promoted to first-team after scoring 7 goals in 64 minutes

Arsenal fans want teenage sensation Chido Obi-Martin to be promoted to first-team after scoring 7 goals in 64 minutes

Chido Obi-Martin has scored 24 goals in his past seven matches.

Chido Obi-Martin is being tipped to break into Arsenal's first-team after the highly-rated striker netted seven goals in 64 minutes for their under-18's side.

The 16-year-old has been in superb form this season. Back in November, his reputation soared when he scored 10 goals for Arsenal under-16's in their clash against Liverpool.

And after a string of impressive performances of late, including a quintet of goals against West Ham last week, the teenager grabbed headlines when he netted the first seven in their 9-0 victory over Norwich.

"It helps when you have a goalscorer like Chido who is on fire at the moment, and everything he touches seems to go in," said Jack Wilshere, who is the head coach of Arsenal's under-18 team.

“He’s worked so hard over the last couple of years, especially since we’ve had him at Sobha Realty Training Centre over the last six weeks, and he’s getting his rewards for that hard work."

After such a dominant run of form – where he has scored 24 goals in his past seven matches – many have called on Mikel Arteta to give the youngster a chance next season.

One fan said: "Chido Obi-Martin should not be playing for Arsenal youth teams at all. Should be promoted to the first-team next season. Barcelona did it with Lamine Yamal."

A second wrote: "Similar kind of profile to Alexander Isak with a natural eye for goal. Won’t be long before you see him given an opportunity by Arteta, surely. Scary talent."

A third commented: "He’s going right to the top," while a fourth said: "Chido Obi-Martin has scored 5 goals against Norwich for Arsenal's U-18s and it’s only HALF-TIME. This kid is an unstoppable goal-scoring machine. First team next season."

A fifth added: "Everyone should remember Chido Obi-Martin is only 16 yo. Let him continue to learn his trade hopefully with the u21’s next season before asking for him to be fast tracked into the senior squad. Exciting prospect but important not to put unnecessary pressure on him."

Obi-Martin, who has also scored 10 goals in 14 games for Denmark under-17's, has already trained with Arsenal's first-team squad on numerous occasions this season.

The future is bright in North London.
