Mikel Arteta accidentally showed his tactics to the TV cameras during Arsenal's crushing defeat to West Ham United on Thursday.

Arsenal suffered their third league of the season as they succumbed to David Moyes' side at the Emirates.

The visitors ran out 2-0 winners as Tomas Soucek, who opened the scoring with a controversial goal, and Konstantinos Mavropanos got on the score-sheet.

The Gunners failed to break down West Ham as they had 30 shots on goal in their shock defeat, creating an unwanted record in doing so.

Arteta attempted to freshen up his attack as he introduced Eddie Nketiah, Reiss Nelson and Emile Smith Rowe in the second-half.

But the Arsenal manager's substitutes failed to inspire a comeback.

His tactics were also ineffective, which were exposed to the cameras during the league fixture.

A zoomed in version of the note shows him instructing his charges to attack West Ham's 'hotzone'.

There was also a series of scribbled notes on the tactics sheet.

Speaking after the defeat, Arteta expressed his frustration after dominating the stats.

"It is, but this is football, when the team generates that much normally you are going to win games and that’s the way we have done it, because as well against Brighton we generate so much, against Liverpool as well," he said.

"But we score goals in different ways, and we have to make another step in that area to win the game more comfortably for sure, because today the team deserves to win the game, there’s no question about that."

On having 77 touches in the opposition box and failing to score, he added: "They were great, we have to put the ball in the net and win it, and as well because the two situations in the box we have to defend in the box, we didn’t defend it well enough.

"It’s a team that are really good in the box, with the timing, the quality they have with the front players arriving and that’s what made the difference today unfortunately and it is a very disappointing night for us because I think we should have got much more from the game."
