Coventry City pull off stunning FA Cup comeback to beat Wolves and reach semi-final

Championship side Coventry City produced a remarkable comeback to beat Wolves and secure their place in the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

The quarter-finals of the FA Cup got underway in the West Midlands on Saturday, with Wolves and Coventry producing an all-time cup classic at Molineux.

Coventry scored goals in the 97th and 100th minutes to claim a famous 3-2 win against the Premier League side after appearing to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Ellis Simms put the visitors ahead at Molineux early in the second half, but the Championship side spurned a host of chances to extend their lead.

Wolves looked to have made the underdogs pay when Rayan Ai Nouri equalised in the 84th minute and Hugo Bueno put the hosts ahead two minutes from time.

But injury-time goals from Simms and Haji Wright swung the remarkable contest back in Coventry's favour.

Simms bagged his second of the day when he headed home from close range, before Wright stroked home the winner in the 10th minute of added time.

Coventry - the top scorers in the FA Cup this season - are the first side to go into the hat for the semi-final draw, and will make their fourth appearance at Wembley in seven years.

Manchester City and Newcastle United will fight to join them when they face off at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday evening, before Chelsea take on Leicester on Sunday lunchtime.

The quarter-final schedule rounds up with a mouthwatering crunch clash between Manchester United and Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
