Former Man Utd striker Danny Welbeck admits he cried at Jordan Henderson's farewell video to Liverpool

Henderson has left Liverpool for Saudi Pro League club Al Ettifaq.

Former Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck has admitted he cried at Jordan Henderson's farewell video to Liverpool.

Henderson, 33, has left Liverpool to join Saudi Pro League club Al Ettifaq on a three-year deal, ending his 12-year stay at Anfield.

Henderson has joined up with his former Liverpool teammate Steven Gerrard, who is now in charge of the Saudi club.

He is set to earn £700,000 per week, with Liverpool receiving around £12m for the midfielder.

Henderson confirmed the transfer on Wednesday with a video, which you can watch below, thanking the club and its supporters.

"Being made the captain of Liverpool Football Club was one of the greatest honours of my life," wrote Henderson.

"From the day the armband was passed to me, I did everything I could to behave like a Liverpool captain should. But the biggest honours at Liverpool weren't personal ones, they were collective. All of us, all of you - together.

"Just know that I will always be a Red. Until the day I die. Thank you for everything. You'll never walk alone."

A number of Liverpool players replied with messages of support for Henderson, including club and international teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold.

"You have done so much for me on and off the pitch, more than you will ever know and for that I'll never be able to repay you," wrote Alexander-Arnold.

"I'll always be grateful for the support you've given me to become a man and a better player. We've shared some of the best moments of our lives together, and achieved things we could only dream of as kids. Here's to the memories we have created.

"Thank you for everything my captain."

Liverpool would later release a series of videos to Henderson, with Jurgen Klopp and several members of his squad paying tribute to their former captain. Check the squad video out below.

And the tributes have not just been limited to those associated with Liverpool.

Former United striker Welbeck put club allegiances to one side to send his support to Henderson, replying on Instagram: "Incredible bro. Even brought a tear to a Manc."

Welbeck and Henderson travelled to three major tournaments together with England between 2012 and 2018, including the World Cup in Russia where they reached the semi-finals.

Henderson intends to continue his international career after moving to Saudi Arabia and is due to hold talks with England manager Gareth Southgate, with a view to competing at Euro 2024 next summer.
