Jurgen Klopp issues fresh request to Liverpool fans after touching tribute during Norwich win

He issued a fresh request.

Jurgen Klopp has issued a fresh request to the Anfield faithful after the German received an emotional reception during Liverpool's game against Norwich.

On Sunday, the Reds reached the FA Cup fifth round with a resounding 5-2 victory over Norwich in their first game since manager Klopp announced he will leave at the end of the season.

The German announced his imminent departure on Friday, having at the helm on Merseyside since October 2015.

Klopp has won almost every trophy available in his nine years at Liverpool, including the Champions League in 2019 and the club's first Premier League title in 30 years the following season.

And while Klopp's departure will leave an enormous void at Liverpool, the German urged the club to forget about his departure and focus on the team's fortunes.

Having received an emotional tribute from the Anfield faithful before the game, Klopp told ITV: "I think the atmosphere today, the people, showed everything to me - it's wonderful and I love it, it's absolutely great.

"I said it's unnecessary because I know about it but I won't say don't do it anymore, the people can do what they want definitely.

"But we need an atmosphere on the pitch and for that, we need the crowd. Just don't think about the manager.

"I'm really sorry that I had to mention that but that's how it is. We just have to forget it for a while and just go for each opponent like crazy. And that's what we want to do and the next chance to do that is Wednesday."

Before kick-off Klopp seemed in a contemplative mood as the Kop belted out 'You'll Never Walk Alone'. That was then followed up in the first minute by a rendition of 'I'm so glad that Jurgen is a Red'.
