What Kevin De Bruyne did after seeing Matheus Nunes' gruesome injury for Man City

Manchester City star Matheus Nunes suffered a gruesome injury this week and Kevin De Bruyne's reaction spoke volumes.

City eased into the quarter-finals of the Champions League with a 3-1 win against FC Copenhagen on Wednesday, securing a 6-2 aggregate victory.

Pep Guardiola's side raced into a 2-0 lead, with Manuel Akanji volleying home the opener before Julian Alvarez smashed in the second, albeit with the help of goalkeeper Kamil Grabara.

Mohamed Elyounoussi pulled a goal back for the visitors in the 29th minute before Erling Haaland scored City’s third just before the interval.

The second half passed without much incident, although City midfielder Matheus Nunes did suffer a gruesome injury.

The 25-year-old went down awkwardly and immediately called for medical assistance.

Replays appeared to show that he dislocated his finger, with fans horrified by the unnatural angle of his finger.

After a few minutes' treatment Nunes was helped to his feet and substituted, heading to the bench instead of to the changing rooms.

When he arrived he showed his teammates his heavily strapped hand as he explained what had happened.

However, not everyone had much sympathy for Nunes.

While the likes of Bernardo Silva and Ruben Dias looked somewhat concerned about their teammate, Kevin De Bruyne looked distinctly uninterested.

As the TV cameras zoomed in on Nunes and De Bruyne's reaction, TNT Sports commentator Darren Fletcher remarked: "Kevin De Bruyne [is] not too interested behind him!"

Given the serious injury De Bruyne has just returned from, perhaps it's not surprising that he wasn't bothered about something as minor as a dislocated finger.

The Belgian midfielder was sidelined for five months after he tore his hamstring in City's Premier League opener against Burnley in August.

De Bruyne underwent major surgery and had to undergo months of rehab before he could even start training with his teammates again.

Remarkably, De Bruyne has picked up where he left off, providing 12 assists in 12 games since returning to action.

It's safe to assume that Nunes won't be facing a spell on the sidelines.
