It made his goal even more impressive.

Amad Diallo made a stunning revelation after he scored a dramatic winning goal for Manchester United against Liverpool.

On Sunday United beat Liverpool 4-3 after extra-time in an all-time classic of an FA Cup quarter-final.

Erik ten Hag's side took an early lead but had to twice fight back from behind before grabbing a last-gasp winner.

It was an afternoon of redemption for several United players who had endured underwhelming seasons.

Brazilian winger Antony drew United level with minutes of normal time left to play, while it was out of form striker Marcus Rashford who equalised during the second period of extra-time.

It seemed somewhat fitting then that Amad Diallo grabbed the winner, the young attacker who impressed on loan at Sunderland last season but who has barely had a sniff of first team minutes this term.

The Ivorian coolly finished off a deadly United counter-attack in the 121st minute of the match, before getting sent off for taking his shirt off in celebration.

Amad was a bundle of energy after he came on as a substitute in the 85th minute, impressively so as it emerged that he was fasting on the day of the game.

"It's not easy. It's not easy when you're fasting, but you need to believe in you," Amad said after the game.

"I am fasting for God, so I am very happy to fast.

"I want to fight for the team if I am on the pitch, so thanks to God for this moment."

Amad is a practising muslim, so is currently fasting during the holy month of Ramadan.

Fasting requires the abstinence from drinking and eating between sunrise and sunset every day during the month of Ramadan.

Ramadan began on March 11 and is expected to end of April 9.

Before then, United will face Brentford, Chelsea and Liverpool in the Premier League.
