Odds slashed on Erik ten Hag to be next Premier League manager to be sacked after Man Utd defeat

Odds slashed on Erik ten Hag to be next Premier League manager to be sacked after Man Utd defeat

Pressure is mounting on Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag following his side's defeat at West Ham United.

Odds on Erik ten Hag to be the next Premier League manager to be sacked have been slashed following Manchester United's bruising defeat to West Ham United.

Man United lost 2-0 at West Ham on Saturday as they suffered their eighth league defeat of the season.

The Red Devils succumbed to David Moyes' side as they conceded two second-half goals at the London Stadium.

The club made unwanted history and there's still time for it to get worse.

The defeat leaves Ten Hag's side languishing in eighth place in the table, with 28 points on the board - eight points adrift of fourth-placed Tottenham.

Pressure is mounting on the Dutch boss, which is reflected by the odds on him to remain in his position.

Ten Hag is now 17/20 favourite to be the next manager in England's top flight to lose their job, having been 6/5 before Man United's defeat to West Ham.

That's according to Betfair, who have odds of 6/1 for Man United to qualify for the top four this season.

Speaking after their latest setback, Ten Hag admits his team have issues as he shared his thoughts on their goal drought.

"We have issues," he said. "We have many setbacks, injuries, etc. But the players on the pitch are good enough to win games. It is about getting into the box. Make sure you are there. Have the willingness to arrive there and to score a goal.

"We didn’t score the goal. We needed the first goal. We were controlling the game and didn’t give West Ham anything.

"We created three good chances and didn’t take them. One moment of switching off and we are down and losing the game."

It's back to the drawing board for Ten Hag as Man United resume their faltering league campaign on Boxing Day when they host Aston Villa.
