Erling Haaland has put Manchester City ahead against Manchester United after a controversial VAR decision.

The Manchester derby is finally here and Haaland has typically found the net, beating Andre Onana from the penalty spot.

However, the decision to award City a spot-kick has divided opinion, with VAR taking centre stage at Old Trafford.

Rasmus Hojlund was adjudged to have held back Rodri in the 18-yard box following Julian Alvarez' out-swinging free-kick.

VAR soon intervened and referee Paul Tierney was called over to the monitor, before pointing to the spot.

The responsibility fell to Haaland, who made no mistake as he buried the ball into the bottom right corner.

However, plenty of United supporters didn't think it was a penalty, along with

United super-fan Mark Goldbridge.

Reeacting the decision on The United Stand YouTube channel, he claimed that Rodri wasn't close enough to the ball.

"The ball was too high, he [Rodri] is never getting on the end of it, you have to take that into account. You have to!"

"Absolute joke. That is a terrible, terrible decision. I can't believe that he's looked at that and thinks it's a penalty. What a super t**t!"
