Ivan Toney is looking to earn an enormous wage at Manchester United, it has been claimed.

Toney has been heavily tipped to leave Brentford this summer, with the likes of Arsenal, United and Chelsea widely thought to have registered an interest in the striker.

However, a fresh Sun report has claimed that suitors may be put off by Toney’s expected wages, which are understood to be in the region of £250,000 per week.

This number - which amounts to some £13million per year - is said to be a reason why Brentford are unable to tie the player to an extension.

Indeed, should Toney to United on the quoted wage, he would allegedly rake in £10,000 per week more than the club’s captain Bruno Fernandes.

Of course, the Old Trafford club are no strangers to paying high wages for players. The Sun has claimed that both Mason Mount and Anthony Martial, who have barely featured this term, currently earn that £250,000 weekly figure.

Brentford boss Thomas Frank already admitted back in February that he expects to lose Toney in the summer transfer window.

Frank said: “The reality is he's got one more year left on his contract in the summer. I think he's been pretty open about playing for a top club in the future.

“There's a couple of scenarios; he leaves in the summer, he leaves in the winter, or he stays until the end.

“If he's leaving - whatever, summer, winter or the summer after - I think it will be fantastic seeing him playing for a top club.”

Meanwhile, speaking after Brentford’s 2-0 win over Wolves back in February, Toney said: “I'm a Brentford player at the moment, nobody can predict the future.

“Whatever happens, happens but the main focus is to do well for Brentford, keep them in the league and keep getting goals and three points.

“I see that as he doesn't want me. The manager has said what he's said but I can't make clubs come and get me.

“I've just got to keep doing what I do and that's score goals. What will be will be.”
