Sir Jim Ratcliffe 'angry' with two Man Utd players as pressure grows on Erik ten Hag

The recent unrest in the Manchester United squad has reportedly angered co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe as the pressure grows on manager Erik ten Hag.

Ten Hag faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford amid speculation Ratcliffe could replace him in the summer following a disappointing campaign.

United were held to a 2-2 draw by Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon to leave their Champions League hopes hanging by a thread.

Ten Hag's side are now seventh in the Premier League table, 13 points off the top four with only six games remaining.

Alejandro Garnacho risked the wrath of his manager after liking two tweets from Mark Goldbridge calling out the United boss following the draw.

A United spokesperson told the MEN that the matter had been dealt with internally but declined to clarify whether Garnacho had been outright disciplined by Ten Hag.

United highlighted that Garnacho, who was seemingly unhappy at being substituted by Ten Hag at half-time against Bournemouth, had swiftly unliked the tweets.

It is the second time United have had to address a player calling out the manager this season.

Jadon Sancho was banished by Ten Hag after he refused to apologise to the Dutchman in a row over his efforts in training.

After Ten Hag publicly called out Sancho in a press conference in September, the player responded by claiming he had been made a 'scapegoat' by the United boss – branding his claims 'completely untrue'.

Sancho later joined Borussia Dortmund on loan in January and could leave United on a permanent deal this summer.

HITC report that Ratcliffe is 'angry' about the constant leaks emerging from the club, and the use of social media from players to criticise the club and manager.

"Ratcliffe will not get personally involved in club discipline, but he has already made it known that he backed Ten Hag over the Sancho situation and going forward he will not put up with further indiscipline at any level of the club with particular focus on the players," the report added.

United next face Coventry City in their FA Cup semi-final on Sunday before returning to Premier League action against Sheffield United on Wednesday.
