Premier League clubs have contacted Manchester United over Mason Greenwood, it has been claimed.
Greenwood has not played for United since 2022, when he was charged with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault. The Crown Prosecution Service dropped the charges in February 2023 after key witnesses withdrew their involvement and new material came to light, while Greenwood always denied the accusations.
Nevertheless, United subsequently launched an internal investigation into Greenwood’s conduct with parties “mutually agreeing” that the forward should “recommence his career away from Old Trafford”.

The one-cap England international went on loan to La Liga outfit Getafe, where he has managed 10 goals and six assists.
Amid suggestions that Greenwood could return to United next season, the Mail Online has alleged that the club recently briefed its staff and said that selling the forward was their No.1 priority.
While Getafe are keen to secure another loan deal, United are reportedly likely to shop the player around given his return to form.

The Telegraph has alleged that at least two Premier League clubs have enquired about signing Greenwood, though the player is more likely to move overseas if sold this summer.
In Spain, Atletico Madrid are allegedly keeping tabs on Greenwood, even though they have played down their interest.
Moreover, Barcelona would allegedly like to sign the United academy graduate but does not have the financial capacity to strike a deal.
Real Madrid are reportedly unlikely to pursue him, while other Spanish suitors are monitoring Greenwood.

Similarly, clubs in Germany and Italy, including Juventus and Lazio, are also believed to have registered interest in Greenwood.
Meanwhile, Getafe President Angel Torres has revealed that he wants to keep Greenwood at the club next season.
He told Radio Marca: “Atletico have not asked me, the only one who has asked me was Laporta when he was here. I spoke with him and Deco and they asked me because they like the player.

“If it depends on the boy and his parents and the club, I think he will continue another year.
“In Manchester, the sports director who I spoke with last week, if there is a good offer, they would like to sell because he is not going to return there.
“But if it depends on his family, the fans and so on then I think he will stay, we recovered him after 16 months not playing. We are going to have to wait a month and a half or two months. (…) What I think is that he is going to stay.
“To sign, all the teams, not only Barcelona, also Getafe, Atletico… we need to first sell and then buy. That’s why it’s going to be a long summer. The situation of Spanish football is that first, it needs to sell and then buy. It’s the problem that 80% of the clubs have.”
