Man United have had a poor start to the season and some clear themes have emerged with how they concede.

To say Erik ten Hag is having a difficult second season in charge of Manchester United would be a bit of an understatement.

The Dutchman oversaw United's return to the Champions League last season with a third placed finish in the league and a first piece of silverware since 2017 with the Carabao Cup.

Hopes were high that United could kick on again this season and bridge the gap to the sides at top of the league - but it seems the complete opposite has materialised.

United have had a poor start to the new season and currently sit 10th in the Premier League after playing seven games so far, ahead of hosting Brentford at Old Trafford this afternoon.

And in their Champions League group, United sit rock bottom after two losses and have a mountain to climb to reach the competition's last 16 phase after a damaging 3-2 loss to Galatasaray at Old Trafford in midweek.

A glance at the top flight table and particularly the goals for and against columns paint a dreary picture - put simply, United are struggling to find the back of the net and are conceding far too many at the other end.

And a video has emerged on social media analysing the way in which Ten Hag's side have been conceding goals - and a couple of common themes have emerged. They don't make for pleasant reading for United fans.

Conner Cole, a United fan, has taken to the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, to post a video where he has analysed the type of goals the Old Trafford side have conceded and the common themes which have contributed to a whopping 47% of strikes let in.

In a nutshell, United are too easy to get in behind down the flanks and the midfield do not work hard enough defensively to track back and mark runners, who more often than not end up being free and find the back of the net.

Goals against Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Brighton & Hove Albion, Bayern Munich and Galatasaray all feature in the analysis and the above problems keep cropping up throughout.

Conner said: "Manchester United are conceding far too many goals.

"Opponents are abusing our vulnerabilities out wide and making dangerous cutbacks. They're so effective due to the inability for our midfielders to track the runners making late darts into the box."

He claimed: "Or to make it simpler, the team is really lazy. These eight goals take up 47% of all goals conceded this season.

"Laziness is a big factor and we need to do better."
