Morgan Schneiderlin has contract terminated at latest club after nine days as career hits new low

Former Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has had his contract terminated just NINE days after joining.

After coming through the ranks at Southampton, Schneiderlin sealed a £27 million move to United in 2014 and made 47 appearances across two seasons.

He fell out of favour when Jose Mourinho took the reins at Old Trafford and moved to Everton for £24 million in 2017.

He played 88 times for the Toffees before returning to France with Nice, who he represented on 59 occasions.

After a brief loan spell with Australian Western Sydney Wanderers last season, his contract at Nice expired and Schneiderlin became a free agent.

He finally completed his search for a new club at the start of the month when he signed for Turkish side Konyaspor, who finished in eighth place in the last season's Super Lig.

But the 33-year-old has left after just over a week, without even making a competitive appearance. The club took to Twitter to confirm the swift departure, which has been agreed mutually due to "family reasons".

A statement on Twitter read: "Professional football player Morgan Schneiderlin, whose transfer we have announced recently, conveyed to our management that he wanted to leave due to family reasons.

"As a result of the consultations and evaluations, our club approached Morgan Schneiderlin's request positively and terminated his contract by mutual agreement."

Schneiderlin, who has been capped 15 times by France, had a promising first season at United under Louis van Gaal and helped the club win the FA Cup.

He left in a bid for regular game-time but regrets the departure, believing things could have been different.

“"I know if I played to my full potential, with freedom, I would not be in Australia right now," Schneiderlin told the Daily Mail.

"Maybe I would still be at Manchester United. When I signed, I wanted to be a legend there. That is why I am mad with myself and it will be hard until the end of my life

"My friends ask, 'Why are you saying this?' But I know myself and what I can bring.

"I know this time at Manchester United affected me for the longest period in my career. I was so frustrated I couldn't give what I wanted."
