Wrexham super-fan Bootlegger responds to critics after 'concerning' wet-legged photo

Bootlegger has become a cult hero on social media.

Wrexham super-fan Bootlegger has broken his silence after a 'concerning' image of him circulated on social media.

Bootlegger, real name Karl Phillips, has become an online sensation in the past few years, producing match-day YouTube vlogs which showcase his love of football and drinking.

From catchphrases such as “It’s gonna get tasty baby” to “I’ve had an absolute grueller”, Bootlegger has amassed 358,000 Twitter followers and millions of views across social media.

However, one particular image taken last weekend has divided fans.

The photo in question, which has since been deleted, showed Phillips sprawled out on the floor, propped up against the wall next to his wife. Alarmingly, his jeans appeared to be drenched in liquid.

Plenty of fans laughed along with Phillips, but others claimed he needed "genuine help" for being in a "helpless state".

Bootlegger has now responded to the comments, telling critics to "duck themselves", insisting he is a "good man".

He tweeted on Wednesday morning: “Thanks for the kind words and messages of concern they are appreciated after me over doing it Sunday those who like to make it into something else and lay the boot in go and duck yourself’s [sic] I’m a good man and will always be a good man have a good days lads roll on Friday.”

When asked how the picture was leaked, Phillips replied: “The flamethrower [wife] took it and deleted it on Facebook but some clever barsteward took it and put here it’s to be expected and got no problem with that I’ll take my time this weekend.

“There [are] more days in a week when I don’t had lint [alcohol] than days when I do but I’ll admit I’ll binge at the weekend when I should go low and slow,” he added.

Replying to a comment which encouraged Bootlegger to keep posting his usual content, the social media figure wrote: It won’t at all mate for every man that likes you they’ll another two round the corner that don’t human nature pal".
