Sky Sports Duped By Fake Facts About Lincoln Red Imps

Somehow, Celtic losing to a team from Gibraltar suddenly doesn't feel THAT embarrassing. Well, OK, it does, but compare Brendan Rodgers' defeat in his first competitive game in charge of the Hoops to the monumental mishap made by Sky Sports News presenter Mike Wedderburn, this morning.

Following Lincoln Red Imps' stunning victory over the Scottish champions in a Champions League qualifier first leg, last night, a 'Sky Sports' graphic was circulated on social media by Twitter user @WeahsCousin and rapidly went viral.

Somehow, when discussing Celtic's failures this morning, Wedderburn was either a) given the fake stats by a researcher or b) sourced them himself and believed them to be true. How actual Sky Sports employees didn't realise they hadn't created this graphic and didn't question as to whether facts such as the Imps having a competition winner for a manager, a convicted drug dealer for a striker or an average home crowd of 28 is both baffling and hilarious.

In the immortal words of Phoenix Club owner Brian Potter, it's amazing what you can do with a computer and access to t'internet.
