The outcome of the Emirates Cup didn't just leave fans confused yesterday, with Arsenal emerging victorious on home soil despite losing their final game to Sevilla.
The Spanish side won both their games in the pre-season tournament, yet the Gunners lifted the trophy due to the fact they scored more goals in the competition. Unsurprisingly, the bizarre ruling brought with it a lot of mockery.

And while the rules have been in place since 2007, it didn't stop Sevilla striker Wissam Ben Yedder from ridiculing Arsenal on Twitter, after the game.
The Frenchman initially took to social media to share his confusion with his Twitter followers, sending a tongue-in-cheek message to the Gunners asking them to give the trophy to Sevilla who, in any other normal cup competition, would have been crowned champions.

Naturally, despite the light hearted tone of the message, some Arsenal fans were not impressed, and one in particular drew a perfect reaction from Ben Yedder, who couldn't resist pointing out the Gunners' failure to qualify for this season's Champions League, having finished fifth in the Premier League, last term.
It was a comeback as perfectly delivered as the through ball the former Toulouse striker (and bread enthusiast, according to one disgruntled Arsenal fan) played into Joaquin Correa to open the scoring for Sevilla, yesterday.

If only the 26-year-old had played a few more of those passes over the course of Sevilla's two victories, he may have ended up lifting the Emirates trophy himself.
