FIFA 05’s Highest-Rated Squad Is Insane

FIFA 05’s Highest-Rated Squad Is Insane

FIFA 05’s highest-rated squad looks absolutely insane and would wreck FIFA 19’s best starting XI.

FIFA 19's demo has dropped and we're all damn excited for it to be released this month. Let's face it: we mainly wanted to know how Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Neymar would be rated in the top ten, but they can't even touch some of the past players on FIFA.

It's time to revisit a period before icons and legends and take a look at FIFA 05's highest-rated squad.

Get ready for a nostalgia trip, folks.

Here's the best starting XI possible, according to GiveMeSport:

  • GK: Gianluigi Buffon (97)
  • RB: Alessandro Nesta (94)
  • CB: Sol Campbell (93)
  • CB: Jaap Stam (93)
  • LB: Paolo Maldini (92)
  • CM: Patrick Vieira (94)
  • CM: Francesco Totti (94)
  • CM: Zinedine Zidane (96)
  • RW: Thierry Henry (97)
  • LW: Ronaldinho (93)
  • ST: Ruud van Nistelrooy (95)

Of course, the website is playing certain players in different positions, but it's crazy to see those ratings.

In more recent FIFA titles, the ratings have usually been capped below 95 during the launch period.

Oh, and here's how they would compare with the top-rated footballers (excluding legends) in FIFA 19 thanks to GiveMeSport:

  • GK: David de Gea (91)
  • RB: Sergio Ramos (91)
  • CB: Diego Godín (90)
  • CB: Mats Hummels (89)
  • LB: Giorgio Chiellini (89)
  • CM: Toni Kroos (90)
  • CM: Kevin De Bruyne (91)
  • CM: Luka Modrić (91)
  • RW: Lionel Messi (94)
  • LW: Neymar (92)
  • ST: Cristiano Ronaldo (94)

Imagine seeing those two teams face off against one another?

It would be absolutely insane.
