Zlatan Ibrahimovic and everyone else inside Old Trafford thought the Swedish goal machine had given Manchester United the lead against Middlesbrough this afternoon, only for referee Lee Mason to decide that the United striker's taekwondo effort was too dangerous to stand.

Needless to say, the decision was about as popular as a fart in crowded lift as United players, fans and social media users struggled to figure out what was so illegal about Ibrahimovic's effort.

Howard Webb was also at a loss to explain why his former colleague Mason had disallowed the strike:

United legend Peter Schmeichel was likewise unimpressed with the official's baffling decision

What are your opinions on the goal? Should it have stood? Do goalkeepers get too much protection from officials? Or was Lee Mason actually right to disallow it? Have your say in the comments section, below.
