Fernando Torres once struck fear into the Premier League's best defenders. Then came injuries and his form disappeared. Tonight he has shown what we've all been missing for a while.
Before Brendan Rodgers and Luis Suarez nearly took Liverpool to the title their previous second place finish had come behind Manchester United when Torres was at his peak.
Playing up front with Steven Gerrard in behind him the Spaniard nearly inspired the Reds to league title glory and bamboozled the league's best centre back, Nemanja Vidic, regularly.
Whilst things have fallen away since then for Torres, and his move to Chelsea hardly worked out well, he's back to somewhere near his best for Atletico Madrid.

And tonight he has scored one of the best goals you're likely to see this year, and that's a year with a scorpion kick goal, Andy Carroll's scissor kick and Jonny Howson's impression of Paul Scholes:

Torres has only started six league goals this season for Atleti but he's bagged himself five goals now for the club he captained to the Liga B title last time he was there.
If anything sums up Torres perfectly it's the fact that he's followed that incredible strike with a missed penalty tonight, oh Fernando.
