One of the best of his 250?

Congratulations to Wayne Rooney for his 250th goal for Manchester United. Not just a nice milestone to get to but also the goal that took him ahead of Sir Bobby Charlton as the club's top goalscorer of all time.

This afternoon United faced the tricky task of playing Stoke at the Britannia. Not quite a wet Tuesday night but difficult nonetheless. Rooney started on the bench despite Anthony Martial's absence, with Juan Mata in the starting XI instead.

Mark Hughes' side took the lead in the first half without having a shot on goal as Mata accidentally put the ball past David de Gea to hand the hosts the advantage. Try as they might Jose Mourinho's side just couldn't get back into the game.

On came Marcus Rashford for Marouane Fellaini, then Rooney came on for Mata and finally Jesse Lingard replaced Henrikh Mkhitaryan. It looked like it wouldn't happen for the Red Devils but then, deep into injury time, Rooney scored a famous equaliser:

Rooney had been stuck on 248 goals for quite a while this season but made it 249 goals, equalling the great Sir Bobby's record, earlier this month when he scored against Reading in the FA Cup.

The goal was an incredible moment for the Manchester United captain and his team but it wasn't enough to give them all three points that they needed to have any chance of getting back in the title race.

'Wazza' didn't even get the chance to celebrate his record making striker, instead opting to try and get the ball out of the net in case there was any chance of getting a winner.

United are now 11 points behind Chelsea at the top of the table but the Blues have a game in hand.

Remember the name, Wayne Rooney!
