There isn't much that Francesco Totti could do that wouldn't be universally loved, well other than in the blue half of Rome, but remembering back to the time he took a selfie as a celebration in the Rome Derby I couldn't help but question if this was brilliant or terrible!
This weekend AS Roma and Lazio take on each other at the Stadio Olimpico in what must be approaching Totti's one millionth Rome derby. The legend is a record holder in the fixture having scored 11 times, which would be a much better record if he'd only played 41 derbies not near a million.
However out of all his 11 goals in the infamous and fiery games it's one in January 2011 that he's become infamous for and it's not even the goal itself. After scoring an equaliser to make it 2-2 Totti ran over to the Roma fans to celebrate, however his festivities weren't done with.

After coming away from the crowd the Rome legend signalled to a coach who had come over to join in, the coach handed him his phone and the Italian proceeded to a selfie with himself and the crowd.
It was a pretty awesome moment apart from there was half an hour to go and the game was 2-2! If it was a winning goal with minutes to go then the celebration would have been perfect. But instead it was somewhat silly, they may have gone on to lose the match for god's sake.
I've no issue with a selfie and boy do I love Francesco Totti but there's a time and a place and in the context of the match this just wasn't it!

Anyway take a look at the 'brilliant' moment here and decide for yourself just how great it is:
In fairness the resulting photo is up there with the best selfies around, definitely better than that one from the Oscars:

Let's hope for another moment like this at the weekend, only with a 90th minute winner!
