Liverpool star Stefan Bajcetic spotted in Barcelona after being linked with summer move to the Nou Camp

The Liverpool star is in Barcelona.

A number of Liverpool players have been spotted in Barcelona on the anniversary of their famous Champions League win in 2019.

The Reds memorably came back from a 3-0 deficit in the first leg of their 2019 semi-final, having been unable to deal with the brilliance of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and co at Camp Nou.

But the second leg at Anfield was a different story, with Liverpool securing a 4-0 victory that effectively meant the end of an era for Barcelona.

Although they have shown signs of life under Xavi domestically this season, with the La Liga title within their grasp, Les Cules have failed to progress beyond the quarter-final stage of the Champions League since that devastating night in Anfield. They didn't even make it past the group stage this time around.

Although the presence of Reds stars appears to be merely coincidental - they do not play another Premier League fixture for another seven days - that particular topic of conversation may well have been brought up.

Football Insider claim that the Reds' trip to Barcelona has not seen them take part in any training sessions, with the focus instead on rest as they prepare for a blockbuster end to the campaign.

Amongst the players in the squad on that famous night pictured in Barcelona, by Reddit user @Trivettee, include Mohamed Salah, Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Joe Gomez.

Younger members of the current first team setup were also present, including Rhys Williams - who was recalled from an unsuccessful loan spell at Blackpool in January - and midfielder Stefan Bajcetic.

Bajcetic has broken through into Liverpool's starting XI on a regular basis this season, and was one of their most impressive performers of 2023 before his season was curtailed early through injury in March.

His form has seen him linked with both Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Spanish outlet Fichajes claimed in February that the Spanish giants were monitoring the 18-year-old midfielder. However, Bajcetic signed a new contract at Liverpool at the beginning of the year, and looks set to remain at Anfield for the foreseeable future.
