Despite reports emanating from North London that claimed Arsene Wenger would be looking at signing a one year contract extension at Arsenal, conflicting reports have emerged from Germany claiming that the Gunners' board have already made an approach for the Frenchman's replacement.
A 3-1 defeat to West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns on Saturday afternoon has left Arsenal languishing in sixth place, with qualification for next season's Champions League beginning to look increasingly unlikely if they cannot reverse their current slump.

And now, according to Bild, Arsenal have made their first approach for 'Le Professeur's' replacement, with Borussia Dortmund's Thomas Tuchel their apparent target.
Tuchel himself hasn't enjoyed an easy season at Signal Iduna Park, with Dortmund currently sitting third in the Bundesliga table, behind all conquering Bayern Munich and surprise newcomers RB Leipzig. Tuchel has guided BVB into the quarter-finals of the Champions League though, a stage of the competition Gunners' fans haven't experienced for a long time.

Wenger, now 66-years-old, is in his 21st year as Arsenal boss, but is without a Premier League title since 2003/04's incredible 'Invincibles' season.
In the intervening 13 years since arguably his greatest achievement as Arsenal manager, Wenger has only lifted two FA Cups, with Arsenal failing to mount a serious title challenge ever since, while consistently providing their services as whipping boys to Bayern Munich and Barcelona in the Champions League.

'Wenger Out' protests have become much more commonplace over the past few weeks, with Arsenal losing six out of their last nine matches. However, they have advanced to the semi-finals of the FA Cup, where they will meet Manchester City, so there is still a chance of some silverware being lifted, although it would now seem even another cup victory wouldn't be enough to appease disillusioned supporters.
Is Tuchel the right man for the job, though, should Wenger end up leaving the Emirates stadium?
