Some Atletico Madrid fans are planning to give Thibaut Courtois a bizarre reception when he plays at the Wanda Metropolitano for arch-rivals Real.

The Belgium No.1 signed his six-year contract at the Bernabeu after Chelsea and Real agreed terms for him to return to the Spanish capital for a reported fee of £35 million.

Courtois has history in Madrid, having turned out for Atletico in three impressive campaigns on loan where he added the Europa League, La Liga and Copa Del Rey to his trophy collection.

He also created quite the rapport with Atleti fans when he told Real to "f*** themselves up the ****" after Diego Simeone's side celebrated a trophy win on the town hall balcony.

But after moving to Los Blancos and kissing the badge at his official unveiling, Atleti fans want to get back at him in the Madrid derby on their turf on February 2, 2019 - with one chap encouraging supporters to purchase 50,000 toy rats to hurl at the 26-year old.

The bloke has even dropped the link to the IKEA website for the toy, which costs €1, such is how desperate he wants to make it a tough experience for Courtois.

It's not only Atletico fans who are furious with Courtois, Chelsea supporters did not take too well to his badge-kissing antics on Thursday.

What's more, a Belgian journalist asked him about the possibility of Eden Hazard joining him at Real, to which Courtois replied:

"Eden congratulated me. He knows it is a dream for me to be here. I would like to be always by his side. He is a great player and if he could come here, it would be fantastic."
