Juventus legend Gianluigi Buffon could be set to make his final career move as Porto want him to replace Iker Casillas in the summer.

The 38-year-old former Real Madrid shot-stopper suffered a heart attack in May and is expected to call it time on his illustrious career in the summer.

According to Italian newspaper Tuttosport, Porto are keeping tabs on free agent Buffon after Paris Saint-Germain did not extend his contract.

The 41-year-old Italian icon made 25 appearances across all competitions for the French side.

But PSG boss Thomas Tuchel wants to avoid rotating his number one like he did last season with Alphonse Areola and Buffon.

And the former Italy international, who has been linked with Barcelona, has not hinted at retirement and could be tempted with a move to Porto.

The Primeira Liga side believe they could offer Buffon regular first-team football should Casillas leave in the summer.

Buffon, who signed for PSG last summer and won the French title, admitted that he had no regrets about leaving Juventus and moving to Paris.

"I leave happy to have enjoyed this experience, which has undoubtedly helped me to grow," he said.

"Today, my adventure outside Italy comes to an end.

"Ernest Hemingway wrote that there are only two places in the world where people can live happily: at home and in Paris.

"Today onwards, this will also apply to me: Paris, in some way, will always remain my home... Allez Paris!"

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi also thanked Buffon for his services to the club.

"I will never forget the pride that everyone at Paris St-Germain, both the club and the fans, felt when they saw Gianluigi Buffon wearing our jersey," he said.

"During his time at PSG, he brought his phenomenal experience and his sense of professionalism not only to his teammates, but also to all areas of the club.

"We will miss his warm and open personality here at the club."
