Cristiano Ronaldo Welcomes Fernando Ricksen and Family to the Bernabeu

Great gesture from the Real Madrid man.

Fernando Ricksen was welcomed to the Bernabeu Stadium on Tuesday night as a personal guest of Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.

The former Rangers captain, who is battling motor neurone disease, travelled across Spain from his home in Valencia for the Champions League tie against Legia Warsaw, and was welcomed with open arms by the three-time Ballon d'Or winner and his entourage.

Ronaldo himself didn't score in the 5-1 victory over the Polish champions, but he still looked in a good mood as he greeted Ricksen, who was accompanied by his wife Veronika and daughter Isabella, with his grass-stained shirt from the match:

Earlier this month, a charity dinner was held in Ricksen's honour in Glasgow and Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes sent a personalised video message to the former Holland international, offering him hospitality if he ever came to Madrid.

And it appears Ricksen decided to take him up on the offer, and Real president Florentino Pérez was also on-hand to say hello.

Nice gesture, Ronnie!
