Not too much happened in the EFL Cup semi-final first leg between Southampton and Liverpool, where the Saints drew first blood - Nathan Redmond's strike giving Claude Puel's side a 1-0 win and the slight advantage going into the second game at Anfield.

But something that did catch everyone's eye in the game was Jurgen Klopp giving Daniel Sturridge a piece of paper in the second half.

The England striker was then seen passing on the note to his teammates as Liverpool looked to net an equaliser.


Presumably, the note contained some sort of tactical instructions but everyone on Twitter had their say on just what the note said.

As you can probably guess, a lot of it was orientated around him being injury prone and the big tactical switch from Klopp being "PASS TO COUTINHO!".
