Inter Milan Turn To Man City Star After Failing In Their Luka Modric Pursuit

A reignited Inter Milan have decided to spend big this summer window and bolster their side ahead of the new season.

It had been seven seasons without Champions League football for the Milan club, but they managed to earn a fourth-place spot in Serie A last campaign, which means they'll be playing in the revered competition once again.

And with this, they're looking for some huge firepower in midfield. They are keen on Luka Modric, but that would be a truly audacious purchase. With the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus for a fee of around £100 million, Modric is arguably now Real's most important player.

The club's president, Florentino Perez, recognised this, and slapped a massive price-tag on the star. A sum which no club could afford.

And so Inter will have to turn their attention elsewhere. And a report in Tuttosport via Sempreinter suggest that they are now on the hunt for Manchester City player Ilkay Gundogan.

The former Borussia Dortmund player has shown his talent at Man City but some of his time at the Etihad has been plagued by injury.

The report also says that Inter will have to fork out up to €40 million to bring the player in. It's not a huge amount by today's standards and is considerable less than what Perez is asking for Modric, so a deal could be on the cards.
