A good portion of the players who were active in FIFA 2003 are Icons/Legends these days but one man who has stood the test of time is Italian defensive midfielder Matteo Brighi.
Edgar Davids, Ryan Giggs and Roberto Carlos were the cover stars adorning the classic game, while the likes of Thierry Henry, 2003 Ballon d'Or winner Pavel Nedved and Zinedine Zidane were in their absolute pomp.
But it was actually journeyman Brighi who was the highest-rated player on the game, with an insane 97 overall.

Brighi has had a very odd career which has spanned a total of 12 clubs, including the likes of Juventus, Parma, Brescia and Roma. He's had also had two spells at Bologna and Torino.
Following his exploits in Italy, he bagged the league's young player of the year and earned a call-up for Italy in the UEFA European Under-21 Championships.
He eventually got a shot at the senior's but was unable to replicate his early potential, ultimately getting the four caps for 'Gli Azzurri'.

Now 38, Brighi plays for Serie A side Empoli but has only managed three appearances in Serie. However, he remains featured on FIFA even if his rating has endured a steady decline down to 70 over the years.
Here are his overall ratings from FIFA 10 onwards:

He's had a bit of a fall from grace but that glorious 97 rating he once had bestowed upon him back in FIFA 03 will never be forgotten.
