Pep Guardiola's decision to drop Sergio Aguero to the bench against Barcelona on Wednesday night was initially believed to be a tactical decision, with the Manchester City manager confirming as much in his post-match press conference. However, according to Spanish football expert Graham Hunter, there may be more to Pep's decision than tactics.
Guardiola's preference of Kevin de Bruyne in the false nine role to Aguero starting as a centre forward was apparently a warning shot from the former Bayern and Barca boss, who, according to Hunter in his recent Daily Record column, has tired of some of Aguero's behaviour in the past few weeks.

Hunter claims that between Aguero's missed penalties, his elbow on Winston Reid that saw him suspended for three matches and his decision to play through the pain barrier against Argentina during the recent international break, there is now a growing tension between the pair, which could see the Argentinean forward benched for further games, having also been named as a substitute for last week's Premier League match against Everton.

However, Hunter says that, despite the recent emerging problems, if Aguero applies himself he can get back into Guardiola's good books.
