Robbie Keane was always the player you'd associate with the phrases "dream come to true" or "boyhood club" given that he somehow seemed to support every team he ever played for.

However, it seems like Henrikh Mkhitaryan is taking the reins from the Irishman following his recent comments.

The Armenian international was confirmed as an Arsenal player on Monday evening, at the same time the capture of Alexis Sanchez was officially confirmed as a Manchester United player.

And in a familiar quote thrown up by footballers when they sign for a new team, Mkhitaryan says it is a "dream" to sign for the club he supported as a boy.

"I'm very happy that we could finish this deal and I'm very happy to be here. It's a dream come true because I've always dreamed of playing for Arsenal," he told the official Arsenal website.

"Now that I'm here, I'll do my best for this club to create history."

Mkhitaryan added that watching Thierry Henry tear it up on a regular basis led to his infatuation with the Gunners.

"I always loved the way Arsenal played, the way Arsene Wenger has managed the team," he added.

"He had young players and was always managing them and they were doing very good."

"And of course I was in love with the game of Thierry Henry. I loved the way he played, and maybe that was the reason to support Arsenal."

In an interview with UEFA, Mkhitaryan did confess his love for Arsenal when he was in the early days of his career and said he wanted to play there in the future.

So while he's not exactly making it up for PR purposes, it is a familiar line from the 29-year old...

Still, he's got another seven clubs to support as a kid before he gets to Keane's level...

Will Mkhitaryan be a success at the Emirates?
