Bruno Henrique Reached A Top Speed Of 38 km/h And Is Now The Fastest Player In World Football

Bruno Henrique clocked a blistering 38 km/h for Flamengo, making him the fastest player in world football.

The 28-year-old reached supersonic speeds of 38 km/h in the Copa Libertadores quarter-final against Internacional on Thursday.

He surpasses Gareth Bale who recorded a top speed of 36.9 km/h.

The rapid-forward scored two late goals to secure a first leg victory over Internacional ahead of next Thursday's second leg.

He's enjoying a prolific season for Flamengo and his performances in Brazil isn't going unnoticed as he has been called up to the Seleção team.

Henrique has received his first senior international call-up for Brazil's friendly games against Colombia and Peru next month.

Last season, in the Premier League, Timothy Fosu-Mensah reached a top speed of 35.3 km/h and in the campaign before, Manchester City's Leroy Sane clocked a top speed of 35.5 km/h.

And, in France, Paris Saint-Germain's Kylian Mbappe recorded a top speed of 36 km/h in 2017.

To put all these speeds in context, Usain Bolt averaged 37.6 km/h when he broke the 100m World Record in 2009.
