Oscar is one of the many high-profile names to swap Europe for the Far East and according to new teammate Hulk, the Brazilian midfielder left Chelsea for Shanghai because of him.

Before snapping up Oscar for a whopping £60 million, Chinese Super League side Shanghai SIPG splashed out an equally-whopping £47 million to lure Hulk to Asia.

And the powerhouse frontman is taking the credit for Oscar's arrival in China by claiming he convinced the 25-year-old to join the Chinese footballing movement.

"I talked to Oscar about Shanghai SIPG before he made the move." The ex-Porto and Zenit player said to Chinese Media via Goal.

"I said to him that Shanghai is a beautiful city, the club is fantastic and we will get even better in the coming years. I also said our team-mates are very friendly and welcoming, which makes me feel pretty good. After hearing what I told him, he came."

Hulk moved to the CSL side back in 2016 for a then-Asian record, though believes the hefty price tag will not discourage or put pressure on Oscar;

"We have grown accustomed to playing under huge pressure, no matter how much the club has spent on players."

Reinforcing the idea that the huge money spent on him isn't a problem; "Oscar, Elkeson and I are used to it. This is not a problem."

The 30-year-old feels the acquisition of Oscar will only enhance their chances of winning the domestic title; "Each new player is coming to help the team and I believe Oscar will help us a lot. The level of the team has improved a lot, obviously, and I think we will win the title next season."

Oscar is on a reported £20m-per-year wage, and he opened his account the other day bagging his first goal for his new side in a friendly against Saudi Arabian Premier League side Al Batin.
