Jose Mourinho isn't one to mince his words as he's given a brutal assessment on Luke Shaw.

The left-back's future at the club has come under intense scrutiny following being deemed surplus to requirements.

And that stance was further enhanced over the weekend. Mourinho dropped Shaw from the United squad despite a number of his players facing injuries or suspensions.

Instead of the £27 million signing, the Portuguese boss opted for reserve midfielder Matthew Willock.

When quizzed about his decision to leave Shaw out of the squad, Mourinho harshly responded with; "Who?"

That's bad as it is but it gets worse.

"Luke Shaw? It's difficult for him to be on the bench because I cannot compare him with Ashley Young, with Darmian, with Blind."

The damning verdict continued by highlighting his training and commitment to the club.

"I cannot compare the way he trains, the way he commits, the focus, the ambition. I cannot compare. He is a long way behind."

To which the reported replied with; "But he's an England international - do you expect more from him?"

"Joe Hart is an English international and is playing on loan in Italy." Mourinho said.

The tension between manager and player continues to rise. Shaw's future at Old Trafford appears to be numbered.
