Manchester United captain Antonio Valencia will leave the club at the end of the season and it's looking as though he will be linking up with his former teammate Wayne Rooney at D.C United in the MLS.

The Ecuadorian's father, Luis, recently revealed to radio station Area Deportiva that the 33-year old has a two-year offer on the table from an unnamed MLS club.

And the former Wigan Athletic winger has fuelled talk of a move to the United States capital after Retweeting a tweet indicating he will be making a switch to D.C and reuniting with Rooney.

Valencia signed for United in a £16 million deal back in 2008 and has gone on to make over 300 appearances for the club, winning two Premier League titles, two League Cups, one FA Cup and the Europa League.

He assumed the captaincy at the start of the season but has barely featured this term, making just five appearances in the Premier League.

Should he make the move across the pond, he will follow in the footsteps of former colleagues Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Nani, who ply their trade with LA Galaxy and Orlando City respectively.

And of course he would also share a dressing room with Rooney again. England's all-time top scorer made his debut for D.C in July 2018 when they were languishing at the bottom of the Eastern Conference.

Rooney then hit 12 goals in 21 games to fire them into the MLS play-offs before they were knocked out on penalties by Columbus Crew.

So far this season he's scored a sensational free-kick, hit his first ever MLS hat-trick and been sent off via VAR review for a dreadful challenge on Diego Rossi over the weekend.
