Eight months ago, not many people outside of Manchester United had heard of Marcus Rashford, yet now the free scoring, teenage sensation has become one of the most vital parts of Jose Mourinho's squad, is a full England international and is set to be rewarded with his second new contract in six months. So who's responsible for the Wythenshawe lad's rise to prominence?

Of course, the youth coaches at United deserve credit for Rashford's development, as does Louis Van Gaal, who thrust the 18-year-old into the Red Devils' first team, last season to devastating effect. But we can't imagine anyone would guess that Carlos Tevez was also a mentor to Rashford during his two seasons at Old Trafford.

Rashford names Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo as players he looked up to, during an interview with The Sun, but also singles out Tevez, too, which is a tad surprising as the Argentine doesn't enjoy the best of reputations on the red side of Manchester, following his move to City, in 2009.

"Growing up, Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo were the players I looked up to - and Carlos Tevez when he was at the club."

Let's hope Rashford doesn't learn any of Tevez's negative traits, such as refusing to come off the bench during a European game or going on a six month golfing holiday while still collecting wages from the club. Actually, that last one would be pretty funny.
