As a football-mad youngster, you dream of winning the top prizes in football but there's something special about representing your country and even better, pulling on your national team's shirt in a major tournament.

Though the club or country thing is still a common debate in conversations about football, it must be a great feeling to get the call-up to your country.

Marcus Rashford got that call after his unrivalled run towards the end of the 2015/16 campaign.

The youngster burst onto the scene amidst an injury crisis at Manchester United and made an instant impact.

He scored on his Manchester United debut, Europa League debut, Premier League debut, Manchester derby debut, England U21 debut, England first-team debut and League Cup debut. He is the king of firsts.

The youngest ever scorer in a Manchester Derby, Rashford's meteoric rise saw him named in Roy Hodgson's England squad for Euro 2016, mere months after making his professional debut.

The decision to include Rashford in the squad divided opinion, but he was actually one of the few England players who came out with a bit of credit following England's disappointing tournament.

And the 19-year old has been speaking about the moment he was informed by Louis van Gaal that he would going to the Euros as part of the England squad.

Writing in The Players' Tribune, he said:

"A lot of people think I came out of nowhere. And to be honest, this past year has gone by so quickly that I still can't believe it myself sometimes.

"One day during training with United last season, my team-mates told me that I'd been selected for the national team to go to Euro 2016. I literally didn't believe it. I thought they were joking.

"I'd only just made my debut for Manchester United a few months before. Phil Jones came up to me as we were heading into the changing rooms and said, 'I'm tellin' ya mate, you're going to France'.

"As I made my way into the building, some of the staff were telling me the same thing. When I got my mobile phone out of my locker, there were messages from my friends, my brothers, my mum, all saying the same thing: England!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"At that point, I was buzzing, but still kind of confused. And then my manager at the time, Louis van Gaal, walked up to me. 'Quick word?' I didn't know what to think.

"I mean, I had expected to play with the under-21s, but what he told me was massive. 'The national team phoned,' he said. 'Go and enjoy yourself.' That was it. I was going to France."

What a special moment that must have been for Rashford.

He has now been capped six times for his country and is in the squad for upcoming games against Germany and Lithuania.
