Messi Has Scored More Free-Kicks Than Any Of Europe’s Top Clubs In Last Four Years

Lionel Messi and free-kicks are a match made in heaven for Barcelona, especially after his performance against Espanyol.

Lionel Messi has become a master of free-kicks for Barcelona and the stats are here to back up that claim.

According to ESPN's Alexis, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner has scored more direct free-kicks than any club in Europe's top five leagues in the last four years.

To put that into perspective -- it will show how unreal his stats are -- Juventus have scored 18 times from free-kicks thanks to six different players: Paulo Dybala (8), Miralem Pjanić (4), Andrea Pirlo (3), Carlos Tevez (1), Paul Pogba (1) and Federico Bernardeschi (1).

Insane, right?

The 31-year-old Argentine forward put away a brilliant free-kick in the first half against Espanyol. He followed it up with another fantastic free-kick in the second half, with Barcelona smashing four past their opponents.

Club legend Carles Puyol has come out after the match to fire out a massive dig at France Football for snubbing Messi for the 2018 Ballon d'Or.

How many times will Messi score for Barcelona this season?
