Monaco manager Thierry Henry has edged one step closer to signing Chelsea star Cesc Fàbregas after news emerged that a deal could be 'completed next week.'

According to L'Équipe, the negotiations between the French club and the 31-year-old Spaniard's representatives have been moving ahead and there are 'still some points to settle.'

Should everything move ahead as planned, Fàbregas would once again be reunited with Henry.

SPORTbible reported last month that the 41-year-old Frenchman had made the World Cup-winning Spaniard one of his top targets.

Monaco have lost the likes of João Moutinho, Thomas Lemar, Fabinho and Tiémoué Bakayoko over the last two years.

With Monaco sitting in 19th place in Ligue 1 -- only two points clear of bottom-placed Guingamp -- Henry wants to add some creativity to his midfield options in the hopes that he can pull the club out of a relegation battle.

Fàbregas, who was also a target for AC Milan, will be out of contract at the end of the season. The former Arsenal and Barcelona player has fallen down the pecking order at Chelsea under manager Maurizio Sarri.
